To say I’ve had a stressful week is a gross understatement

Eyes Of Artists
Flicking through an old issue of the mag I used to work for (so I can vouch for its awesomeness) I found a feature on stress and ways to combat it. It advised sniffing aromatherapy oils.
“Inhaling essential oils releases euphoric chemicals in the brain,” says Marion Fewkes of the International Society of Professional Aromatherapists in the feature.
Aside: who knew aromatherapists had an international society? Imagine their parties!
It went on to say: “A recent study on people attending a clinic for anxiety found that patients who received aromatherapy treatments (and inhaled oils) showed marked physical signs of improvement [as in, their skin looked younger], as well as mental relaxation, than those who didn’t receive any treatment.”
Interesting.
After doing a bit more research on my own, I’ve discovered that lavender is the Panadol of aromatherapy oils – recommended for pretty much everything, including stress, depression, insomnia and nervous exhaustion.
So the next time you’re feeling stressed or anxious, try spraying on a perfume containing lavender and watch your stress levels go from ten to zen. (Like what I did there?!)
To help you out, here are three fragrances, all containing lavender:
Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden
Hermes’ Eau D’Hermes and
Eau de Guerlain.
At the very least, you can always use these perfumes as a sort of pepper spray if you see a kangaroo bounding towards you.
